35mmで「躍動」を追い求めた後の後半戦は、レンズを「Summilux-M 50mm F1.4 ASPH.」へと切り替えた。

35mmが広大な空間を切り取る「引き」の美学だとしたら、50mmは被写体の内面に一歩踏み込む「対話」の距離感。如月明日香さんの瞳の奥にある静かな熱量を、この標準レンズの王道で描き出した。

After chasing “motion” with the 35mm, I switched to the Summilux-M 50mm F1.4 ASPH. for the second half. If the 35mm represents the aesthetics of space, the 50mm is the distance of “dialogue,” stepping into the subject’s inner world.

今回使用した50mmは、現行のひとつ前のモデル。ライカ史において、標準レンズの定義を塗り替えたと言われる名玉だ。35mmが「光を遊ぶ」レンズなら、この50mmは「光を精密に編み上げる」レンズだと言える。

合焦面の驚くべき繊細さと、そこからシームレスに溶けていく背景。如月さんの瞳の潤みや、ニットの繊維、そしてふとした瞬間に見せる切ない表情を、この上なく優しく描き出してくれる。一個前とはいえ、その描写力は今なお色褪せない輝きを放っている。

The 50mm I used is the previous ASPH. model—a masterpiece that redefined the standard lens. While the 35mm “plays” with light, this 50mm “weaves” it with precision. The seamless transition from sharp focus to soft bokeh captures the moisture in her eyes and the texture of her knitwear with an ethereal beauty.

レコードが並ぶスタジオの隅。無機質なコンクリート壁を背に座る彼女の姿は、35mmの時のロックな躍動感とは異なり、どこか物語の幕間のような静けさを湛えている。

50mmという「見たままに近い」画角だからこそ、小道具や背景と被写体との距離感がリアルに迫ってくる。ライカの50mmが持つ、この「そこにいる」という確信的な描写こそ、僕がこのレンズを手放せない理由だ。

Sitting against a sterile concrete wall surrounded by records, Asuka exudes a different kind of calm—like an intermission in a story. The 50mm’s natural field of view brings a sense of reality to the relationship between the subject and her surroundings.

35mmが「外へのエネルギー」だとしたら、50mmは「内への沈潜」。この二つの視点を使い分けることで、如月明日香さんという一人のモデルの中に潜む、多面的なカッコよさを表現できたと思う。

モノクロで撮るということ。それは、色の情報を捨てる代わりに、光の魂を拾い上げることなのだと再認識させてくれた、贅沢な時間だった。

The 35mm captures outward energy, while the 50mm delves inward. By using both, I expressed the multi-faceted “coolness” of Asuka Kisaragi. Shooting in monochrome reminded me that by stripping away color, we truly pick up the soul of the light.
